Isothermal and non-isothermal calorimetric methods (DSCand DTA),which are based on the Johnson-Mehl-Avrami (JMA) equation, have been widely used in the kinetic study of phase transformation. The results indicate that for the isothermal process, the validity of JMA equation is satisfactory, while for the non-isothermal one, the JMA equation must be used under several assumptions, this always gives rise to constant discussion among many authors. In this paper, seven different methods which utilize calorimetric technique to investigate the nonisothermal crystallization kinetics of glass are compared, their theoritical basis and derivation are analyzed, furthermore, the reliability and applicability of these methods are estimated. |
