:The borate species distributions of aqueous potassium borate solutions were obtained. The species and contents of borates and their chemical conversion equations in potassium borate solutions were studied. The effect of temperature and concentration on borate species were also discussed briefly. The main borate species in aqueous potassium pentaborate solution are B3O3(OH)-4, B4O5(OH)2-4 and B(OH)3. While the content of B5O6(OH)-4 is very little in the solution. B(OH)-4 is the main species in potassium metaborate solution. B3O3(OH)-4, B4O5(OH)2-4 and B(OH)- 4are the major species in highly concentrated potassium tetraborate solution. Density and conductivity data were analyzed by Otakar and Casteel-Amis empirical equations. |
